Fantastic performances but scruffy sound

Mavrinsky and his stunning Leningraders were not just great performers of the Russian classics - they were much more versatile, as shown by these superbly atmospheric readings. Unfortunately, though, the sound is scruffy at best, and somewhat poorer than other Melodiya - sourced HDTT transfers from that era. A pity.
