From my near-field sitting position the digital download in DSF128 played through Amarra Luxe puts Desmond et al in my library. You know it’s Desmond because his musicality and technique are if not unique so enjoyable listening to and this production is happily demonstrably clear, alive, three dimensional and happily joined by artists of equal talent in Gene Wright, Connie Kay, Jim Hall and Gene Gerico. Enjoyment of music is always the ultimate criteria, happily I am Glad To Be Unhappy. Highly recommended
So what if this isn't the very best of the Paul Desmond Jim Hall collaborations as the PDF claims (who writes those things anyway)? It's just great music. And the DXD sonics! I don't think you'll ever hear either Desmond or Hall better sounding. In particular the soundstage and imaging are outstanding. The sonics go a long way towards accomplishing what the musicians were after. Namely dreamy, trancelike music that completely beguiles the listener. This isn't the best of the Desmond-Hall collaborations? Who cares? Music this good, in sound I want it all.
