Excellent transfer of a legendary performance. Highly recommended.
Very pleased with purchases, less so with hefty UK customs and duties. Still excellently remastered recordings of classic performances.
Bernstein's 1960's interpretation of the Mahler 7 has for nigh on 50 years received high praise with a first movement of real strength. the three middle movements are also handled with great aplomb. The shadowy scherzo surely one the composers most inspired conceptions is wonderful. In Nachtmusik II Bernstein captures the serenade nature of the movement better than anyone. The last movement is a merry romp with its echo's of Wagner's Meistersinger. Finally the sound on this HDTT transfer is excellent. Highly recommended
intense performance, luxuriant sound
It is really annoying that without exception, recording studios who had the original master tapes, back in the 1980s, made CDs from them that sound worse than a CD made from a mass produced commercial tape that is now over 50 years old. Are they incompetent Are they deaf No, I think they are deliberately catering for the mass market of people whose ears have grown used to distorted, amplified pop music.
