This 1972 recording is an impressive one, particularly the growling double basses spiralling up and down in the last movement. Despite the 24 bit/192 kHz format I feel that there is less clarity in the treble than in some more recent (DDD) CD (16/44) recordings, which may reflect the superiority of a later generation of microphones.
