Don't think twice. There is no way you will regret this one
I didn’t know the Russians could be that good at playing Bartok! Excellent rendition of this great music. Perfect sound. No hesitation...
Very good, Thank you.
Most Mravinsky recordings sound so awful that they drive you out of the room, usually due to shrieking treble. But he was a genius, so you forgive all. But this is a pleasant surprise, very listenable. Needless to say, the music-making is superb. The great Mravinsky and his Leningraders weren't just Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky merchants - they excelled over a wide range of music. The Bartok is stunningly well played - the magical strings of the Leningrad Phil (shortly to become the magical strings of the Israel Phil) have a field day. And the Debussy is sensuous and erotic, as it should be. Five star music-making, and more than decent sound make this a stand-out. Strongly recommended, therefore.
Another very fine remastering from HDTT.
