I bought the lp when it came out. Subsequently I bought the cd which was a disappointment as the sound was nothing like as good as the lp. I then tried downloads from various on line stores. All were not much better. The HDTT transfer is the best I have found and the nearest to the lp sound. Recommended.
Although Previn's later uncut EMI version of Rachmaninoff's 2nd Symphony is justly famous and for many, the preferred recording of the symphony, his early LSO account has a freshness and vitality as well as - for me - more vivid sound that makes this a version to treasure. If this performance were less compelling, the cuts might be stumbling block but with a recording this persuasive, one doesn't miss the material. HDDT's transfer bring the sonics to life as never before.
Sounds good performance.
Great performance of a wonderful symphony, in lovely sound.
