I really appreciate Ahmad Jamal's work. A great pianist, his trios are always admirable. This live session at Alambra is memorable and HDTT's work, as always, is excellent. Great sound.
I'm a jazz piano trio nut. From Bill Evans through Keith Jarrett, they're all among my faves. And the great Ahmad Jamal occupies a special place in this Pantheon. HDTT here serves up an absolutely classic Jamal trio recording, made live at the Alhambra, a club the master owned in Chicago. This trio is THE great one with Israel Crosby on bass and Vernell Fourier on drums. Dig them here at the top of their form in Bob Witrak-remastered DXD sound. That ought to be enough for any jazz lover. It's wonderful!
Thoroughly enjoyed this album. It is a very good live recording. I have listened to it several times already since purchasing. Love his piano playing. I will say his "Live at the Blackhawk" album in MHO(also available from High Def Tape Transfers) is even better. Get them both if you can.
